Charlotte A. Kilker, 81, Vero Beach

Charlotte A. Kilker, 81, of Vero Beach, died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2011 at the Indian River Medical Center.

Kilker was born Jan. 28, 1930, in Shenandoah, Pa., and has been a resident of Vero Beach since 1989, coming from Pa.

She was a member of St. Francis Cabrini Church in Pennsylvania.

Kilker was employed with General Motors, Keystone Lighting and the Pennsbury School District.

Survivors include her long time companion, Frank K. Wallace; sons, Miles (Patricia) F. Kilker, of Langhorne, Pa., Terrance (Terri) M. Kilker, of Morrisville, Pa.; grandchildren, Jenna (Ryan) Tasker, Myles Kilker, Katie (Jeff) Lamonte, Laura (Tony) Fresco, Melissa Kilker; great-grandchildren, Jackson Tasker, Lyam Kilker and Adam Kilker.

Services will be held at a later date.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the VNA/Hospice Foundation at 1110 35th Lane, Vero Beach, FL 32960.

Arrangements are under the direction of Cox-Gifford-Seawinds Funeral Home and Crematory, Vero Beach, Florida.

VERO BEACH — While chilly temperatures caused a drop in beach attendance last month, lifeguards are happy to report that there were no water rescues that occurred in January. "It's a great thing," Vero Beach Lifeguard Association officials said in a statement. "We hope people are paying attention to lifeguards and condition signs before they go into the water." ‘No swimming’ advisory lifted for beaches, officials say

VERO BEACH — Authorities lifted a 'no swimming' advisory for three local beaches Tuesday after test samples showed that bacteria returned to normal levels, health department and city officials said. The result means it was safe to return to the water Tuesday, Vero Beach city officials said. The advisory - which was in place for nearly a week - was issued Jan. 31 for South Beach, Humiston Beach and Sexton Plaza Beach after high levels of fecal-related bacteria were reported at the locations. Howle, Zudans win in Vero; Kinchen, McPartlan, Iovino in Sebastian

All results are in for the Vero Beach and Sebastian municipal elections. Voters have returned Harry Howle to the Vero Beach Council and Bob McPartlan and Linda Kinchen to the Sebastian Council. Val Zudans will join Howle on the Vero Council, while Albert Iovino will round out the last of three seats up for grabs on the Sebastian Council.
