Betty Lou Haffield, 84, Vero Beach

Betty Lou Haffield, 84, died Feb. 23, 2011, at her daughter’s home in Vero Beach.

She was born in Grayson, Ky., and lived in Vero Beach for 64 years, coming from her birthplace.

She was a member of First Church of God and Indian River County Intercessors and served in the prayer ministry of the church.

She was one of the founders of Women’s Aglow Fellowship in Vero Beach, where she served as first president.

She earned a bachelor’s degree at Kentucky State University.

Survivors include her daughter, Jeri Lynn Fitzgerald, of Vero Beach; son, John Clyatt, of Highlands, N.C.; sister, Sara Van Loon, of Live Oak; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerre Haffield; and son, Ronnie Haffield.

Memorial contributions may be made to First Church of God, 1105 58th Ave., Vero Beach, FL 32966.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Feb. 27 at Strunk Funeral Home in Vero Beach.

A celebration of life will be at 1 p.m. Feb. 28 at First Church of God in Vero Beach with the Rev. Greg Sempsrott officiating.

Burial will follow in Crestlawn Cemetery.
