Edward Madden Groves, 81, died Feb. 21, 2011, at VNA Hospice House.
He was born in Philadelphia, and lived in Vero Beach since 1989, coming from Ocean City, N.J.
He was a Navy veteran, serving aboard the battleship USS New Jersey during the Korean War.
He retired in 1989 from the Quality Components Co. Inc. of New Jersey, a manufacturers’ representative company he founded in 1966.
He was a graduate of Bryant College in Providence, R.I.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Joy A. Groves; daughter, Eileen G. Cowen, of Melrose Park, Pa.; son, Glenn Groves, of Philadelphia; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, Edward Groves Jr.

A memorial service will be at 2:30 p.m. Feb. 24 at the Indian River Estates West Chapel, Vero Beach.
