Diary of a Wimpy Kid premier to benefit Substance Abuse Council

VERO BEACH — The Substance Awareness Council of Indian River County and the Majestic Cinemaworld Theatre of Vero Beach will co-host the premier opening of the box-office hit movie Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules on Saturday, March 26. Doors open at 3:15 p.m., and the movie begins at 4:15 p.m.  $15 tickets include movie, popcorn and drink.  Limited $20 VIP tickets include movie, popcorn, drink, reserved seating, a VIP badge and backstage viewing.  Children under 12 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.

When last year’s Diary of a Wimpy Kid racked up $64 million at the box office on a $15 million budget,  it didn’t take long for a sequel to be announced. The second live-action adaptation of Jeff Kinney’s hugely popular book series was given a release date in July, and right on cue from the first movie,  January sees the debut of the first trailer.

The Substance Awareness Council is looking for sponsors to collaborate with to make this special event happen.
