Jimmie Lee Northey, 84, Vero Beach

Jimmie Lee Northey, 84, died Jan. 28, 2011, at Royal Palm Convalescent Center, Vero Beach.

She was born in Madison and lived in Vero Beach for 25 years, coming from Fort Lauderdale.

She was a 1947 graduate of Fort Lauderdale High School.

In Fort Lauderdale, she was a Girl Scout leader, an active member of and volunteer for the PTA and a member of St. Andrew’s Methodist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher and volunteer.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Vero Beach.

Survivors include her husband of 63 years, James C. Northey, of Vero Beach; son, Glenn Northey, of Vero Beach; daughter, Gail Baldree, of Vero Beach; brother, Ellis Humphrey, of Okeechobee; sister, Gwen Brown, of Boca Raton; three grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Food Box Program, 1750 20th St., Vero Beach, FL 32960.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Feb. 12 at Strunk Funeral Home, Vero Beach, with the Rev. Richard Flick officiating.

A reception will follow at The Plaza, Vero Beach.
