Florence Margaret Bennis, 95, Vero Beach

Florence Margaret Bennis, 95, died Feb. 6, 2011, at Indian River Medical Center, Vero Beach.

She was born in Sauk Centre, Minn., and lived in Sebastian for 37 years, coming from Minneapolis.

Before retirement, she was a secretary for Durance Corp. and several other companies.

She was a member of St. Sebastian Catholic Church for 37 years and participated in the St. Sebastian Women’s Guild.

She was a volunteer auxiliary at Humana Hospital which is now Sebastian River Medical Center for 19 years.

She was a charter member of the Indian River County Chapter of AARP and a member of Sebastian Library Association.

She was a founding member of Sebastian Municipal Golf.

Survivors include her sons, Steven G. Bennis, of Marietta, Ga., and John Lee Bennis, of Wayzata, Minn.; four grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee J. Bennis.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Feb. 10 at St. Sebastian Catholic Church with the Rev. John Morrissey officiating.

A reception will be in Lesage Hall immediately following the memorial Mass.

Interment will be in Sebastian Cemetery.
