John Wayles Bradley, 88, Vero Beach

John Wayles Bradley, 88, died Feb. 3, 2011, at VNA Hospice House, Vero Beach.

He was born in Town Creek, Ala., and lived in Vero Beach for 62 years, coming from Bradenton.

He owned and operated Bradley Co. Inc. for 58 years in Vero Beach.

He also was involved in cattle ranching in Indian River County for more than 47 years and developed and worked citrus properties in Indian River County from 1961 to 2001.

He served in the Army during the World War II.

He was a member of Florida State Cattleman’s Association.

He attended Bradenton High School through the 10th grade and graduated from Georgia Military Academy in 1940.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Marjorie Bradley, of Vero Beach; sons, John Bradley and Jimmy Bradley, both of Vero Beach; daughter, Carolyn Bradley, of Vero Beach; brother, Francis McCloud Bradley, of Melbourne; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one grandchild.

A celebration of his life will be at 6 p.m. Feb. 11 at Strunk Funeral Home, Vero Beach, with the Rev. John M. Kerry of Asbury United Methodist Church, Vero Beach, officiating.
