Lean about Feathers & Fins at EcoFest

WABASSO ISLAND — The 15th Annual EcoFest Celebration at the Environmental Learning Center will take place Sunday, March 6 from noon to 4 pm.  Gather up the family and head to the ELC for an Open House “Feathers & Fins” Extravaganza. There will be live animals, music, crafts, educational booths, and food available for purchase. Discover exciting facts about birds and fish of the Indian River Lagoon.  Admission is free and the event is great for the whole family.. The Discovery Station, which held its Grand Re-Opening the spring of 2010, will have new surprises relating to the Feathers & Fins theme. There will be hands-on explorations, crafts, canoe rides, fly tying lessons, dip netting in the pond, touch tank encounters, face and hand painting, educational games, music by the River Rats Band, a raffle drawing for a 2005 Old Town Discovery Sport canoe with motor and an announcement of the Making a Difference in My World School Contest winners.

Free parking and free shuttle service along the Wabasso Causeway to and from the event.

The Environmental Learning Center is located north of Vero Beach off County Road 510 at the western end of the Wabasso Bridge.

Its 64-acre island campus includes wooden boardwalk trails meandering through the mangrove forests, native plant gardens, a butterfly garden, picnic facilities, and a visitor center with a gift shop.
