VERO BEACH — The Humane Society of Vero Beach and Indian River County (HSVB & IRC) is hosting a Pet Trust seminar on Tuesday, February 1 from 10 to 11a.m. at the shelter’s Adoption and Education Center, 6230 77th Street in Vero Beach. The presentation’s featured speakers are Vero Beach attorney Jennifer Peshke of the law firm Stewart, Evans, Stewart & Emmons, P.A., and HSVB & IRC Assistant Development Director Connie Cotherman.
Peshke will explain various legal techniques to assure that companion animals receive proper care after the disability or death of their human caretaker, and Cotherman will discuss the Humane Society’s Pet Guardian Program.
Since the shelter often houses animals when their human caretakers become disabled or pass away, the Pet Guardian Program gives people the ability to inform the Humane Society in advance of their pet care directives.
The seminar is free and open to the public and refreshments will be served. Donations of money, pet supplies and gently used blankets or towels are always welcomed.
