Jessie Dobson Salmon, 87, died Jan. 11, 2011.
She was born in Philadelphia and lived in Vero Beach for more than 40 years.
She was a graduate of La Salle Junior College and Florida Atlantic University, where she graduated with honors in 1967.
Before retirement, she taught English at Vero Beach High School for more than 20 years.
She was a member of the First Christian Church of Vero Beach, where she sang, was CWF program leader, chairperson of the worship committee, lead church evangelism, helped hire pastors and was a youth teacher and a member of the Christian Education Committee.
She was honored as an elder emeritus.
She was involved with the Vero Beach Choral Society and its annual production of “Messiah.”
Survivors include her daughters, Carol Johnson, Jeanne Salmon and Diane Kelly; son, Bill Salmon, sister, Olive Johnson; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, W.F. Dutch Salmon.

A celebration of life service will be at 11 a.m. Jan. 22 at the First Christian Church.
