Cause for Paws will celebrate 27th Anniversary in March

VERO BEACH — Cause for Paws 2011, to benefit the Humane Society of Vero Beach and Indian River County will host its two-evening event with a Preview Party on Tuesday, March 15 and the Benefit Auction on Saturday, March 19.   2011 marks the 27th Anniversary for the event. Orchid Island Golf & Beach Club will be the gala scene for the Preview Party enjoyed by major donors on Tuesday, March 15, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.  As always, the event will feature a variety of very select silent auction treasures available for bidding and immediate purchase that evening.  This, the more formal part of the two-evening Cause for Paws extravaganza, is graciously being given by Sally Anderson, Jo Ann Becker, Sandy Crowell, Betsy Forrester, Ginny Schwerin, Jean Shropshire and Maria Whittle.

Saturday, March 19, for the Benefit Auction, the venue changes to the Vero Beach Museum of Art.  From 6:00 to 8:30 p.m., a huge selection of silent auction items awaits spirited bidding amid an atmosphere of cocktails and bountiful hors d’oeuvres. The Live Auction featuring enchanting trips, fine art, jewelry, antiques and more to entice the most discerning will commence at 7:45 on Auction night with Gary Farless, auctioneer.

Sneak Preview:

Two nights/three days at the fabulous Greenbrier Sporting Club (WV) with stunning amenities

A week in Beech Mountain, NC resort home for eight persons + one favorite pet

One week in a golf cottage at Casa de Campo (Dominican Republic) for six

Two opportunities each for five days, four nights at the renowned Rockefeller Apartments, a landmark building, located in mid-town Manhattan

A once-in-a-lifetime comprehensive tour of the Save the Chimps Sanctuary (not open to the public)

It doesn’t stop here. Among the more than 550 items will be a cocktail or dinner party catered by Elizabeth D. Kennedy, and jewelry from generous local jewelers.  And, of course, we have lots for Fido” and “Fluffy”….beds, clothing, toys, designer bowls and collars, gift certificates for grooming, training, boarding, veterinarian visits, etc.

Delight “Fido” with an original, 18″ x 24″colored pencil drawing by one of Vero’s most popular pet artists, Agnes Manganelli and/or a personalized sculpture by JoAnn Becker. Woof!

Additionally, raffle tickets are available for $10 each or 6 for $50 and you decide which tickets you wish to place on which raffle item(s). Valued raffle items include:  Michael Kmetz/Auditor ($5,000 Comprehensive Financial Plan/10 hours), Citgo at U.S. 1 at 510 ($1,000 gas card), Jetson’s Appliance & TV ($2,100 TV/DVD/WiFi package) and a special ($1,000 ladies package) by combining Leigh Jewelers ($500) and The Carlisle Collection ($500).

Tickets for the Cause for Paws Benefit Auction are $100.

Ticket for both the Preview Party and Benefit Auction are $200 for Patrons, $350 for Benefactors, $500 for Major Benefactors and $1000 for Silver+ Sponsors.

Proceeds help to provide the necessary care and shelter for our county’s 7,000+ lost, homeless, neglected and abused animals, which will arrive at the Shelter this year.
