Robert Glenn Cooper, Jr., 74, Vero Beach

Robert Glenn Cooper, Jr., 74, died Dec. 24, 2010, at Sebastian River Medical Center.

He was born March 3, 1936, in Vero Beach, the son of Robert Glenn Cooper, Sr. and Harriet (Harrell) MacKenzie.

He was a third-generation, lifelong resident of Indian River County.

He graduated in 1954 from Vero Beach High School and attended Florida State University after serving in the United States Air Force.

He was an enthusiastic fisherman, an avid college football fan, a generous neighbor and friend, and, most importantly, a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Althea Miller Cooper, of Sebastian; his four daughters: Kelly Ward (Tim), of Vero Beach; Kathy Webb (Roger), of Nephi, Utah; Kristy Tenbus (Eric), of Warrensburg, Mo.; and Ky Welchel (Grady), of Vero Beach; his seven granddaughters: Shanna Ward, of Austin, Texas; Brittany (Webb) Strange and Hayley Webb, of Nephi, Utah; Emily (Webb) Havens, of Idaho Falls, Idaho; Taylor Welchel, of Lakeland; and Morgan Welchel and Grayson Welchel, of Vero Beach; his grandson, Conor Tenbus, of Warrensburg, Mo.; and his three great grandsons Spencer and Jacob Strange, of Nephi, Utah and Luke Havens, of Idaho Falls, Idaho.
