Dr. Ian J. MacDonald, 90, died Jan. 4, 2011, at VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach.
He was born in Flushing Long Island, N.Y., and was a part-time resident in Vero Beach for 40 years while working in Orlando and moved to Vero Beach permanently 2 years ago from Orlando.
Dr. MacDonald was a family physician for 50 years in Orlando, retiring 10 years ago.
He attended Dartmouth University before entering into the US Navy. After serving as a fighter pilot during World War II, he returned to Dartmouth to receive his bachelor’s degree.
He then received his Doctorate from Tufts Medical School.
He was a founding member of the Orlando Snow Skiing Club, Retired Physicians Club of Vero Beach, Military Officers Club of America and Dartmouth Club.
Survivors include his wife of 23 years Deena, of Vero Beach; sons, Craig (Becky) MacDonald, of Ocala, Jack (Joyce) MacDonald, of Oviedo; sisters, Joan Turkelsen, of Cape Cod, Mass., Nadine Brown, of Satellite Beach; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be Sunday at 2 p.m., Jan. 9, 2011, at Strunk Funeral Home, Vero Beach with Chaplain Richard Flick officiating.
