VERO BEACH — On Wednesday, January 12 Indian River Impact 100 will swing open the doors of their community partners so members and prospective members can see firsthand exactly how their dollars are being used. The on-site visits will commence from 2 to 5 p.m. Members and their guests can visit one or all of the four facilities. Following the site visits, the day will culminate in a free Wine and Cheese reception at the Quail Valley River Club on A1A, hosted by the Impact 100 Board of Directors and underwritten by Susan Hopkins and Suzanne Bertman.
You can register and obtain a map of the four facilities online at www.Impact100ir.com, by emailing info@impact100ir.com; or by calling 492-7187.
“This will be the last time this season that prospective members can mingle with our members and to join our group. In fact, our membership deadline for this season is the end of February,” explains Laura McDermott, president. “Impact Day is an excellent opportunity to really see the fruition of many women coming together to effect change.”
Since its inception in December, 2008, Impact 100 has awarded $437,000 to four recipients: The Treasure Coast Food Bank’s Backpack Buddie Program, which provides weekend food for hungry grade-school children; the CASTLE Program for a new child abuse center; Harvest Food and Outreach Center for the build-out of their Life Enrichment Center; and Childcare Resources of Indian River for the creation of an infant suite in their new Education Center.
The local Indian River Impact 100 is based on a national model whereby each member donates $1000 and this in turn multiples to $100,000 grants to local non-profits. In two short years, the all-women’s group has garnered solid credentials that not only back up their promises but establishes the group as one of the area’s most prolific, worthwhile and meaningful charitable organizations.
