Dorothy Koehn, 101, died Dec. 20, 2010.
She was born in Lorain, Ohio, and retired to Shady Rest Mobile Home Park in Sebastian in 1970.
She taught elementary grades in the public schools of Lorain for 36 years.
She graduated from Lorain High School in 1926, attended Kent State University in Ohio majoring in physical education, was named Miss Kent State in 1929 and competed in the Miss Ohio contest.
She was one of the original members of the Happy Wanderers Band in Vero Beach, a bowling league in Lorain for 25 years, an active member of the Queen City Chapter 66 of the Eastern Star and a lifelong member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Lorain.
She worshiped at the Roseland United Methodist Church in Sebastian.
Survivors include many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, George “Sugar” Koehn; and siblings, Martin Bickel, Norman Bickel, Mildred K. Bickel, Edna Bickel Jenkins, Irma Ruth Sano, and Alvin Bickel.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. John’s United Church of Christ, 715 Reid Ave., Lorain OH 44052.
Arrangements are by Strunk Funeral Home in Sebastian and Reidy Funeral home in Lorain.
Friends and relatives are invited to a simple graveside ceremony at Ridge Hill Memorial Park Cemetery at 11 a.m. Dec. 28.
A memorial service will be at a later date in Sebastian.
