3-D Gallery Stroll set for Jan. 7

VERO BEACH — Art Galleries in the Downtown Dine & Design (3D) District of Vero Beach (14th Avenue and beyond) will host their monthly 3-D Gallery Stroll from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, January 7.  Art galleries will be open to the public offering refreshments and showcasing their artists’ newest work.  A few of the galleries will be featuring special Guest Artists, and many artists will be on hand to discuss their work and greet visitors. Many other artsy businesses in the 3D District will be open for browsing and shopping, and the numerous restaurants and cafes in the area will be open and waiting for diners.  Cards listing the dates and locations of participating art galleries are available at the galleries and many of the other businesses in the 3D District.

This event is free and open to the public.

Low beach attendance for January; no water rescues

VERO BEACH — While chilly temperatures caused a drop in beach attendance last month, lifeguards are happy to report that there were no water rescues that occurred in January. "It's a great thing," Vero Beach Lifeguard Association officials said in a statement. "We hope people are paying attention to lifeguards and condition signs before they go into the water." Fertilizer restrictions to go into effect next month

A reminder from the Indian River Neighborhood Association to residents of Indian River County, City of Vero Beach, Sebastian and Orchid. We are coming into our rainy season when more nutrients such as nitrogen and phosphorous are likely to be washed from our lawns, driveways and roads into the storm water system and, ultimately, into our local waterways such as the Indian River Lagoon. The fertilizer ordinances passed by our communities goes into effect June 1st. It prohibits the use of lawn fertilizer between June 1st and September 30th. County to allow restaurants to expand outdoor dining

The Indian River County Commission Tuesday voted unanimously to allow restaurants to expand their outdoor dining capacity temporarily as an economic boost during the state's phased-in recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. Under Gov. Ron DeSantis' statewide order that took effect Monday, restaurants are allowed to open indoor dining rooms at 25 percent capacity while outdoor tables must be spaced six feet apart seating parties of no more than ten.
