Gussie Mims, 100, Sebastian

Gussie Mims, 100, of Sebastian, died Thursday Dec. 2, 2010, at home.

She was born on March 4, 1910 in Leesville, La.

She has been a resident of Indian River County for 20 years coming from Oviedo.

She was a retired nannie in the foster home business.

Mims was a member of First Born Church of God In Christ where served as mother of the church, worship leader, and a missionary.

Survivors include her sons, Charles Mims, of Homestead; Theron Houston, of Oviedo; Frank Robinson, of Homestead; daughters, Minnie Mitchell, of Sebastian; Bertha Mae Tillman, of Homestead; 37 grandchildren, 93 great-grandchildren, 56 great-great-grandchildren and one great-great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Minnie and other siblings.

Visitation was held 5 to 7 p.m., Friday Dec. 10, at Stone Brothers Funeral Chapel, Gifford.

A funeral service was held 11 a.m. Saturday Dec. 11, at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, Gifford.

Burial will follow at Gifford Cemetery, Gifford.

Arrangements are under the direction of Stone Brothers Funeral Chapel.
