Henry Fairbairn, 92, Vero Beach

Henry Fairbairn, 92, died Dec. 5, 2010, at his home.

He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and lived in Vero Beach for 32 years, coming from Bowie, Md.

He was a retired lieutenant colonel in the Army and served during World War II and the Vietnam War, a member of St. Augustine Episcopal Church, Vero Beach, of the Military Officers Association of America.

Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Clare; daughter, Laile Fairbairn, of Vero Beach; sons, Stephen Fairbairn, of San Francisco, and Bruce Fairbairn, of Miami; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Rotary Foundation for Polio Plus c/o The Rotary Club of Vero Beach Sunrise, P.O. Box 6274, Vero Beach, FL 32961.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Dec. 9 at St. Augustine Episcopal Church.
