Harold C. Hayden, 96, Vero Beach

Harold C. Hayden, 96, died Nov. 27, 2010, at Consulate Health Care.

He was born in Staten Island, N.Y., and lived in Vero Beach for 24 years, coming from Long Island, N.Y.

He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the Southwest Pacific with the rank of captain.

He retired after 38 years of service from the Long Island Lighting Co. in 1973 as a district manager.

During his business career he was a member of several national service organizations.

He also served as a trustee of the Patchogue, Long Island, public library and was a member of the executive board of the Suffolk County Council and Boy Scouts of America.

He was a life member of South Side Lodge 493, F&AM, serving as master of the Lodge on its 100th anniversary in 1960; the Long Island Past Masters Association; and American Legion Post 269 of Patchogue, L.I.

He was a member of Living Lord Lutheran Church, Vero Beach.

Survivors include his wife, Helen.

There will be no services.
