ELC Volunteer Open House set for Dec. 1

WABASSO ISLAND —  If you are interested in learning more about our beautiful Indian River environment and possibly volunteering time to support its preservation and the education of others, come to the Environmental Learning Center Volunteer Open House from 3 pm until 5 pm on Wednesday, December 1. The ELC staff and volunteers will describe the various opportunities and answer your questions. There are a variety of volunteer opportunities for both seasonal and year-round residents. For example, you might lead Touch Tank encounters in our new Discovery Station, guide canoe and kayak trips, or provide sales support in our gift shop. For those who enjoy working with their hands there are gardening, yard care, and maintenance projects.

Volunteering at the ELC can be fun and rewarding. The Open House is an ideal way to explore volunteer possibilities without making a commitment. No reservations are required.

The Environmental Learning Center is located north of Vero Beach off County road 510 at the end of the Wabasso Bridge. Its 64-acre campus includes exhibit areas, native plant gardens, picnic facilities, gift shop, and visitor center.
