Vernon W. Khail Sr., 88, died Nov. 22, 2010, at VNA Hospice, Vero Beach.
He was born in Manitowoc, Wis., and lived in Vero Beach for 49 years, formerly of Idaho. He was a 20-year veteran of the Army Air Forces and Air Force, serving in World War II and Korean War.
Before retiring, he worked at Piper Aircraft, Vero Beach, for 24 years.
He was a member of St. Augustine of Canterbury Episcopal Church, Vero Beach, the Experimental Aircraft Association 99, Masonic Lodge, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and Air Force Sergeants Association, all in Vero Beach.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Betty; sons, Vernon W. Khail Jr. and Jan Christopher Khail, both of Vero Beach; brother, Richard Khail, of Chino, Calif.; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Katina Novak.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Nov. 24 at St. Augustine of Canterbury Episcopal Church, Vero Beach, with interment to follow at Crestlawn Cemetery, Vero Beach.
