Christmas comes to Downtown Friday

VERO BEACH — Historic Downtown Vero Beach will celebrate their annual old-fashioned Christmas meshed with a popular street party with Christmas in Downtown at Downtown Friday,  presented on Friday, November 26 (the day after Thanksgiving). The popular holiday event will run from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. along 14th Avenue in historic Downtown Vero Beach.  Patrons will find booths aplenty along with the Downtown Friday Beer Garden and many varied food vendors and community booths. The Charity of the Evening will be the Cultural Council of Indian River County.

Children’s activities include holiday face painting by Jenna, and some healthy exercise while jumping in the Downtown Friday bounce house.  They can try out their voices at the Rock Star Karaoke, or try their luck at Cornhole, an old-fashioned bean bag toss game.  Todd Anderson of Greentrees is an acoustic guitarist playing tunes for every family member to enjoy.

Attendees will enjoy the “Creations of the Season” as they stroll down the street and enjoy booths featuring gift ideas such as glass jewelry, carved wood wind chimes, hand crafter items from around the world, unique pet products, hats, hand carved wooden boxes, and more.  Register to win a Royal Caribbean 3 night cruise,  pick up information at community booths, or purchase some ice cream, barbecue, gyros, pizza burritos, burgers or hot dogs.

Downtown Friday is pleased to bring back the entertaining band Dreamer, on stage from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., featuring the exhilarating and expressive vocals of Anita Cotti.  Performing with the quality that comes with years of dedication and polish, Dreamer keeps the energy up and the audience moving and entertained with a collection of hits from Top-40, rock, R&B, island style and country, along with such Christmas favorites as “Rock Around the Christmas Tree”, “Jingle Bell Rock” and others.  During band breaks, downtown’s dance studio “Artistry in Motion” and “Vero Cheer” will be on hand to entertain.

All the action will pause at 6 p.m. when Santa Claus arrives in Vero, all the way from the North Pole!  Santa will be escorted to his Santa Gazebo by Lizmarie Diaz, 2010 Miss Hibiscus, where he will visit with children until 8:30 p.m.  Moms and dads are encouraged to bring their cameras while their children visit with Santa Claus.

Admission to “Christmas in Downtown at Downtown Friday” is free and parking is available at curbside throughout downtown.  No coolers allowed.
