Mark Anthony Maricich, 79, Vero Beach

Mark Anthony Maricich, 79, died Nov. 8, 2010, at VNA Hospice House, Vero Beach.

He was born in Weehawken, N.J., and lived in Vero Beach for five years, coming from Oakland, N.J. He worked for the Bendix Corp. for 19 years as plant manager and was instrumental in the development of the gyroscope used in the Apollo Space Missions.

Following retirement from Bendix, he owned and operated Valley Provisions, a food distribution company in Oakland, N.J.

He served in the Army during the Korean War.

He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, Vero Beach and was a 35 year member of the Knights of Columbus.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Carol J. Maricich, of Vero Beach; son, Mark Thomas Maricich, of Monroe Township, N.J; sisters, Eleanor Markov, of Hobokin, N.J., and Jaqueline Ninnivaggi, of Ridgefield, N.J.; and one grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his brother, John Maricich.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Nov. 13 at Holy Cross Catholic Church Vero Beach.

Interment will be in South Florida National Cemetery, Lake Worth.

Arrangements are by Strunk Funeral Home and Crematory Vero Beach.
