Robert (Bob) R. McKellar, Vero Beach

Robert (Bob) R. McKellar died on Oct. 30, 2010 in Vero Beach.

McKellar was born in Gourock, Scotland, on Aug. 29, 1926 to Jean (Mathieson) McKellar and Robert McKellar. After serving during World War II in the Army Air Corp, he earned his degree in mechanical engineering from New York University.

McKellar and Kay got married on June 24, 1950 and lived with their children in an array of places within the United States and England.

During this time, McKellar built a successful international business, which was domiciled in Wilton, Conn.

After their children had grown, McKellar and Kay relocated from Wilton to their second home in Wolfeboro, N.H.

An avid fisherman, hunter, pilot, and builder and flyer of radio- controlled airplanes, McKellar made many friends as he golfed in Wolfeboro and later in Vero Beach.

McKellar was a Quiet Birdman, a member of AOPA, The Vero Beach Museum of Art, the US Golf Association, and The Vero Beach Art Club.

Survivors include his wife Katherine (Kay) McKellar; three daughters, Barbara Schrank (Fredrick), Kathy Barto (Rick), and Debbie McKellar; two granddaughters, Allie Schrank and Jackie Barto; and a sister-in-law, Betty Nemec.

A private funeral service and burial was held in Wolfeboro, N.H.
