Raleigh O. Langley III, 77, died Nov. 4, 2010, at his home in Vero Beach.
He was born in Atlanta, Ga and lived in Vero Beach for 26 years, coming from Houston, Texas. Langley was a 1951 graduate of North Fulton High School, Atlanta, Ga. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Langley was employed by the City of Vero Beach. Upon leaving the city, he went to work for Vista Properties, Vero Beach, as maintenance supervisor until his retirement in 2002. After his retirement, Langley established Raleigh’s Absentee Service.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Vero Beach. Langley was a member of Elks Lodge #1774, Vero Beach.
Survivors include his son, Leigh Langley, of Cartersville, Ga; stepsons, Jesse Swords, of Longwood and Kevin Swords, of Vero Beach; stepdaughters, Beverly Teel, of Bellvue and Charlene Boob, of Charlotte, N.C.; sister, Dianne Brooks, of Vero Beach; 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Langley was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Swords Langley, and a daughter, Tammy Moore.
Visitation will be 12-1 p.m. on Nov. 9, at Strunk Funeral Home, Vero Beach.
A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. on Nov. 9, at Strunk Funeral Home with Rev. Wesley Ummel of First United Methodist Church officiating.
Military honors will be conducted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3918, Vero Beach.
Interment will be in Crestlawn Cemetery, Vero Beach.
