Lucy May Robinson, 95, Vero Beach

Lucy May Robinson, 95, died Nov. 5, 2010, at Indian River Medical Center.

She was born in Green Hall, Ky., and lived in Vero Beach for 45 years, coming from Kentucky. She was of Baptist faith.

Survivors include her daughter, Barbara Eakins, of Vero Beach; sons, Carl E. Robinson and David Eakins, both of Vero Beach; brother, Cecil Strong, of Cincinnati; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Andy Robinson; son, James L. Robinson; daughter, Alice M. Pooley; seven brothers; and two sisters.

Memorial contributions may be made to Humane Society of Vero Beach, P.O. Box 644, Vero Beach, FL 32961.

A private service will be at a later date.

Arrangements are by Thomas S. Lowther Funeral Home & Crematory, Vero Beach.

VERO BEACH — While chilly temperatures caused a drop in beach attendance last month, lifeguards are happy to report that there were no water rescues that occurred in January. ‘Tragic, sudden loss,’ – Memorials emerge for teen killed in ATV crash

With the sudden death of Sebastian River High School student Jake Beecher still fresh, family, friends, teammates and coaches continue to come to terms with the tragic crash that took his life. "He was well-liked by teammates and was extremely coachable. His coaches and teammates are taking it pretty hard," Sebastian River High School Athletic Director Jessica Upchurch said. ‘No swimming’ advisory lifted for beaches, officials say

VERO BEACH — Authorities lifted a 'no swimming' advisory for three local beaches Tuesday after test samples showed that bacteria returned to normal levels, health department and city officials said. The result means it was safe to return to the water Tuesday, Vero Beach city officials said. The advisory - which was in place for nearly a week - was issued Jan. 31 for South Beach, Humiston Beach and Sexton Plaza Beach after high levels of fecal-related bacteria were reported at the locations.
