VERO BEACH — The opening concert of the Indian River Symphonic Association’s 2010-11 season will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, November 18 at the Community Church of Vero Beach. Maestro Keith Lockhart will conduct the BBC Concert Orchestra in a program of favorite classical selections featuring Russian piano soloist Ilya Yakushev.
Yakushev, the Gold Medal winner in the 2005 World Piano Competition, will perform Mendelssohn’s Piano Concerto No. 1 in G minor. Yakushev has performed with numerous major conductors and symphony orchestras, including the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra under Michael Tilson Thomas, and the Utah Symphony under Keith Lockhart.

Mozart: The Marriage of Figaro: Overture
Mendelssohn: A Midsummer Night’s Dream – Scherzo, Nocturne and Wedding March
Mendelssohn: Piano Concerto No. 1 in G minor, Op. 25
Vaughn Williams: Symphony No. 5 in D major
