Colton James Higgins, 17, of Vero Beach, died unexpectedly Thursday, Oct. 21, 2010 from injuries sustained in a car accident.
Colton was born May 13, 1993 in Vero Beach and was a life long resident. He was a member of Twentieth Avenue Church of God in Vero Beach and a member of the C-4 Youth Group. He was an avid skateboarder, and enjoyed X-Box, fishing and his Fantasy Football League.
Survivors include his mother Kelly Lynn Higgins, of Vero Beach; father Jason Rice, of Vero Beach; sister Hailey Higgins, of Vero Beach; brother Matthew Berggren, of Ft. Pierce; maternal grandparents Jim Higgins and Eunice Smith, of Vero Beach, paternal grandparents Barbara and Robert Rice, of Vero Beach; paternal great-grandparents Maria and Wilbur Ferris, of Vero Beach; aunt Amy Rice, of Vero Beach; and uncle Billy Rice, of Vero Beach.
The family received friends 5-7 p.m., on Sunday, Oct. 24, at Cox-Gifford-Seawinds Funeral Home in Vero Beach.
A Life Celebration Service was held Monday, October 25, at the Twentieth Avenue Church of God in Vero Beach with Pastor Shepherd officiating.
Interment will follow at Crestlawn Cemetery in Vero Beach.
