VERO BEACH — The American Red Cross North Treasure Coast Chapter’s annual “An Affair to Remember” signature event, In the Mood at the Copacabana, is slated for Saturday, February 5 at the Vero Beach Country Club.
The Vero Beach Country Club will be transformed into a 1940s style dinner club in keeping with the Copacabana style as the hottest spot north of Havana. A cast of characters is lined up to take guests on a sentimental journey that will celebrate the music, dancing and entertainment of the decade that brought us Rosie the Riveter, swinging to the big band sound, the Buick Roadmaster and World War II victory celebrations.
A full evening of entertainment is planned including an entertaining floor show that will be served up with a choice of surf or turf cuisine during the dinner service, followed with a sumptuous dessert bar, music and dancing. Featured entertainment includes a salute to Frank Sinatra, Dinah Shore, The Andrews Sisters, Marilyn Monroe, Lucille Ball and Desi Arnez, to name a few.
Bob Brunjes, Publisher, Scripps Treasure Coast Newspapers and Amy Brunjes, External Affairs Manager, FPL, are the honorary co-chairs for the event. Co-chairing the event’s Steering Committee are Brooke Odom, Odom Law Services, and Dora Thorne, Northern Trust. Other steering committee members include: Sandy Singer, Seacoast National Bank; Jim Anderson; Karen Hensley, Karen’s Consignment and Design, and Sharon Rayner and Jay Hart, American Red Cross.
