Walter “Bud” J. Baker, 89, Vero Beach

Walter “Bud” J. Baker, 89, died Oct. 12, 2010, at Indian River Medical Center.

He was born in Utica, N.Y., and moved to Vero Beach in 1980 from his birthplace. He was a staff sergeant in the Air Force during World War II.

He retired from Exxon Mobil Corp. of Utica after 30 years of service. He was of Catholic faith.

He attended Holy Trinity School in Utica and graduated from Utica Free Academy in 1941.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Dorothy Stomierowski Baker.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kimberly Silver, in 2007; and by seven sisters and one brother.

Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Oct. 15, with a memorial service at 6 p.m., at Thomas S. Lowther Funeral Home and Crematory in Vero Beach.

Interment will be in the Soldier’s Plot of the Holy Trinity Cemetery in Yorkville, N.Y., at a later date.
