Otto Schricker Jr. died on Oct. 8, 2010 at his home in Indian River Estates.
Born in Manchester, N.H. in 1922, he graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a degree in chemical engineering in 1944. After college, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy; attained the rank of Lieutenant and served in the Submarine Service during World War II.
After the war he earned a Masters Degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania.
Otto was employed by Exxon in various capacities from 1948 until his retirement in 1982. He obtained patents in the refining of gasoline and spent most of his career in the new field of electronic data processing.
During the course of his career, he worked in various geographical areas including a stay in Iran. After his career with Exxon he joined the International Executive Service Corp and served in Venezuela and Sri Lanka as a data processing consultant.
A long time resident of Cranford, N.J., he was active in Boy Scouting and was a choir member and an Elder in the First Presbyterian Church.
After moving to Vero Beach in 1986 he remained active in the choir of the First Presbyterian of Vero Beach and sang in the Vero Beach Choral Society.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Eugenia; four children, Thomas O. Schricker, of Verona, N.J., Karl A. Schricker, of Phoenix, Ariz., Catherine A. Johnson, of Trappe, Pa., Dr. Patricia J. Schricker, of Montpelier, Vt.; and five grandchildren.
A memorial service was held at the Indian River Estates West Chapel on Tuesday Oct. 12 at 10 a.m.
