Hibiscus Festival committee already hard at work

VERO BEACH — The committee for the 2011 Hibiscus Festival has been formed, and plans for the April 15 and 16 Festival are underway.  The favorite events that are presented yearly include the Miss Hibiscus Pageant on Friday evening, April 15.  Festival day, Saturday April 16 begins early in the morning with the 5K Race.

Throughout the day, festival goers will enjoy the annual Pancake Breakfast, Art Show, Marketplace Booths, Farmers Market, Live entertainment, Historical exhibits, Shopping Cart Parade, Rotary Club’s Salute to Youth, Children’s activities and an evening street party.

New to the Festival this year, there will be an Easter Bonnet Dog Parade, an exhibit by the Old Vero Age Site Committee and a Chinese Auction.  Eco-Friendly Shopping Bags, adorned with original art, is the new product developed by the Festival for sale this year.

Committee meetings are held the first Tuesday of every month at 4 pm. at the Heritage Center on 14th Avenue in historic downtown Vero Beach.  New members and Festival volunteers are always welcome to attend.
