Adopt-a-Teen Christmas Project seeking donors

VERO BEACH — The second annual “Adopt-a-Teen” Christmas Project is starting to gear up for the 350 teens in our area that are either with a Foster Family or in a Group Home. The goal is to provide gifts valued at $50 per teen.

November is National Adoption Awareness Month and Christian Family Builders, an Adoption, Foster, and Orphan Care Resource Center is hoping to have area businesses, groups, churches, and offices start thinking about ways of participation in this project now, as there are an even larger number of teens than last year.

The organization will provide a stocking with a list attached of items to go into that stocking.  Each stocking will have a value equaling $50 for a teen boy or a girl.

Examples of participation last year:

Dr Legler and Dr Dermody’s office each donated 150 tubes of tooth paste and tooth brushes.

St John of the Cross, donated numerous boxes of Christmas Cards, Christmas Stockings and time.

Central Assembly and St John of the Cross, made announcements in bulletin and members picked up a stocking from lobby.

Snowballs matched $5 for every $5 Gift Certificate purchased for a teen.

Individuals, businesses and groups adopted one or more teens.  Others passed out stockings to friends, family members and co-workers, and many volunteers spent hours filling out over 600 Christmas Cards.

The ways to get involved are limitless and painless; the goal is to be a blessing to each foster teen.  Information:  Call Laura Zorc at 772.643.5700.
