VERO BEACH — In an effort to assist Habitat’s homeowners during an economic hardship such as the loss of a job, reduction of hours, or an extended illness, Indian River Habitat for Humanity established an Emergency Food Pantry in December 2008. The Food Pantry exists to help homeowner’s temporarily feed their families while in the midst of unexpected economic hardship. It has made the difference between going to bed hungry and having basic food items in the house while families await acceptance from other resources within Indian River County.
The Food Pantry relies solely on the generosity of the Indian River County community. As the economy in the county has further deteriorated, our pantry has been used by more than 50 families. We are currently in need of the following items:
Canned Vegetables Canned Chicken and Tuna Canned Tomatoes Juice Boxed Potatoes Baked Beans Hot Dogs and 1lb. packages of Ground Meat (we will freeze) Peanut Butter Jelly Sliced Bread Rice Spaghetti Sauce Pasta
All items may be brought to IRHFH’s Main Office on US 1 just north of 45th Street between 8:30 am and 5:00 pm. The address is 4568 N US Highway 1, Vero Beach, FL 32967. Information: Call 772.562.9860
