Fall into fun all this month with chili cook-off, cemetery tour

SEBASTIAN – Fall is in the air and serves as the inspiration for numerous events coming up this month in Sebastian.

Looking to get into the spirit of Fall? There will be a chili cook-off, a scarecrow contest, pumpkin carving competition, a Halloween Bash, and even a cemetery tour.

To start, Captain Hiram’s Sandbar will host The Outlaws Thursday evening and, later, different sounds will be heard at the Sebastian Inlet State Park on Oct. 22.

Suzy’s Tiki will hold its inaugural golf tournament Saturday, Oct. 23, at the Sebastian Municipal Golf Course. On the same day, LaPorte Farms will throw its first ever Scarecrow Contest as part of its Fall Festival.

The following day, Suzy’s Tiki will have a Chili Cook-Off, offering samples of contestants’ chili for a vote and to benefit the American Cancer Society.

The next weekend, leading up to Halloween, a Swash Buckler Halloween Bash will provide residents the opportunity to don their costumes at Suzy’s Tiki.

Curious about those who rest peacefully at Winter Beach Cemetery? There will be a Lantern Lite Cemetery Tour there on Saturday, Oct. 30.

The same day, Suzy’s Tiki is planning a pumpkin-carving contest.

And looking forward, beyond Halloween, the first weekend in November is the Sebastian Clambake Lagoon Festival, which will offer fresh seafood booths, live entertainment, historic re-enactments, boat races, a volleyball tournament, a kayak poker run, and more.
