David Lee Knittel, 81, died Sept. 29, 2010, at VNA Hospice House, Vero Beach.
He was born in Portsmouth, Ohio, and lived in Sebastian for 12 years, coming from Portsmouth. Before retirement in 1994, he worked at the “A-Plant” with Goodyear Atomic and the Martin-Marietta Corp. for 40 years.
He worked at Crichton Office Supply in his youth. He was a graduate of Portsmouth High School and attended Cincinnati Bible College.
He served in the Army during the Korean War. He was an Eagle Scout and a member of Sebastian Christian Church.
Survivors include his daughters, Leanne Allen, of Lucasville, Ohio, Kim Swiggett, of Bedford, Texas, and Julie Knittel, of Loveland, Ohio; longtime companion, Evelyn W. Joy; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Virginia Williams; and former wife, Sara Anne Eynon Knittel.
A memorial service will be at Sebastian Christian Church at a later date.
