Youth Guidance mentors & mentees learn the R.O.P.E.S

VERO BEACH — Youth Guidance mentors and mentees learned about teambuilding and friendship at the R.O.P.E.S. Challenge Course & Picnic held on Saturday, September 18, at the Behavioral Health Center.  The Youth Guidance kids and adults had an exciting morning of physical and mental activities to encourage cooperation, communication and problem-solving skills.

The R.O.P.E.S. Course Programs are a series of activities designed for individuals through group participation.  The mission of the program is to concentrate on individual and group skill development by presenting a series of activities involving physical and emotional risk and the opportunity to succeed within a supportive group atmosphere.  Staff at the Behavioral Health Center graciously donated their time for this successful event.  The lunch was underwritten by the Hospital Foundation through the Jeffrey Horne Memorial Scholarship Fund and the cost of the R.O.P.E.S. Challenge Course was funded by the Hospital Foundation.  Thanks to the terrific support of the community Youth Guidance mentors and mentees were able to experience this unique opportunity.

The primary purpose of Youth Guidance is to match each of its nearly 700 at-risk K-

12 grade children with a volunteer mentor 21 years or older.
