Indian River Boulevard reopens at 37th St. following crash

VERO BEACH — The intersection of Indian River Boulevard and 37th Street has reopened following a head-on collision that sent one vehicle into the brush on the side of the road.

According to officials, the road reopened at about 4:20 p.m. after a crash occurred there around 4 p.m.

Three people were injured in the crash, according to Assistant Fire Chief Brian Burkeen. Two of them were transported to a local hospital while the third was airlifted to a regional trauma center.

They have not been identified.

Burkeen said the vehicles involved included a truck pulling a trailer, which ended up in the trees near the road, and a small compact car.

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — A 77-year-old Vero Beach pickup driver was killed after veering into the opposite lane and slamming into a garbage truck Monday afternoon, Florida Highway Patrol troopers said. The collision happened just east of Sebastian River High School and caused officials to block traffic along County Road 510 in both directions for several hours. 17th Street Bridge reopen after crash that injured woman

Update: Police reopened the 17th Street Bridge Wednesday afternoon following a two-vehicle wreck that left a woman with serious injuries, officials said. Officers closed the bridge for nearly three hours as investigators combed the scene. Tow trucks removed the vehicles from the bridge.
