High Healin’ Happy Hour for Happy Kids

VERO BEACH — Kick up your heels and join High Healin’ for Happy Hour at STAX Restaurant from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 21 to benefit the Childcare Resource Center.

Enjoy complimentary hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar with a variety of wines and delicious cocktails, including $3 High Healin’ signature drinks while listening to some great piano music.  Suggested donation of $15 provides one-half day of childcare and your $30 donation provides a full day of care at the Childcare Resource Center.

Just for fun, you can mingle with other High Healers and strut to our “Best in Shoe – High Heels” walk-off.  But, before all the fun begins, we’ll have a personal trainer available to give up some great leg-toning tips to help you look great in your favorite heels.

STAX Restaurant is located at 1931 Old Dixie Highway in Vero Beach.

Low beach attendance for January; no water rescues

VERO BEACH — While chilly temperatures caused a drop in beach attendance last month, lifeguards are happy to report that there were no water rescues that occurred in January. "It's a great thing," Vero Beach Lifeguard Association officials said in a statement. "We hope people are paying attention to lifeguards and condition signs before they go into the water." Fertilizer restrictions to go into effect next month

A reminder from the Indian River Neighborhood Association to residents of Indian River County, City of Vero Beach, Sebastian and Orchid. We are coming into our rainy season when more nutrients such as nitrogen and phosphorous are likely to be washed from our lawns, driveways and roads into the storm water system and, ultimately, into our local waterways such as the Indian River Lagoon. The fertilizer ordinances passed by our communities goes into effect June 1st. It prohibits the use of lawn fertilizer between June 1st and September 30th. ‘No swimming’ advisory lifted for beaches, officials say

VERO BEACH — Authorities lifted a 'no swimming' advisory for three local beaches Tuesday after test samples showed that bacteria returned to normal levels, health department and city officials said. The result means it was safe to return to the water Tuesday, Vero Beach city officials said. The advisory - which was in place for nearly a week - was issued Jan. 31 for South Beach, Humiston Beach and Sexton Plaza Beach after high levels of fecal-related bacteria were reported at the locations.
