Ironside Press wins multiple print industry awards

VERO BEACH — Ironside Press was presented with an American Graphic Design award by Graphic Design USA for their exceptional design of the Hibiscus Children’s Center Annual Report.

Graphic Design USA magazine recognizes the design industry’s best and brightest in a national annual competition to honor outstanding new work in print media. Ironside Press also received two awards for Best in Category from Printing Association of Florida.

This annual competition judges entries for Technical Printing Excellence and Quality of Art and Design.

The winning entries were OcuCue Postcards and Visiting Nurse Association “Paradise Under the Palms” Invitation. Designers were The Alexis Agency and Steven Smith of Visiting Nurse Association respectively.

VERO BEACH — While chilly temperatures caused a drop in beach attendance last month, lifeguards are happy to report that there were no water rescues that occurred in January. ‘No swimming’ advisory lifted for beaches, officials say

VERO BEACH — Authorities lifted a 'no swimming' advisory for three local beaches Tuesday after test samples showed that bacteria returned to normal levels, health department and city officials said. The result means it was safe to return to the water Tuesday, Vero Beach city officials said. The advisory - which was in place for nearly a week - was issued Jan. 31 for South Beach, Humiston Beach and Sexton Plaza Beach after high levels of fecal-related bacteria were reported at the locations. St. Ed’s student to compete in televised Battlebots competition

A local student is ready to compete in a combat robotics competition that will be televised starting tomorrow, officials said. Grant Pitcher, an eighth-grade student at St. Edward's School in Vero Beach, and his team members will be seen at 8 p.m. Friday on the television show "Battlebots." The show, which features teams from all around the world, will air on the Discovery and Science channels. "This experience was more valuable than any amount of time studying robotics in a classroom," Pitcher said. "I got to meet the top engineers in this field and learn from them hands on.
