INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The Indian River County Sheriff’s Office is crediting tips from concerned citizens in south county for the arrest of an accused crystal meth and oxycodone dealer.
“Community involvement is a major factor in keeping drugs off our streets,” Sheriff Loar said. “This arrest proves the value of citizen awareness in partnership with local law enforcement.” The Sheriff’s Office’s Multi-Agency Community Enforcement Unit arrested James C. Dicks, 30, of Vero Beach, on Wednesday.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, officers worked with a “cooperating source” who arranged for Dicks to deliver drugs to the source’s home along 39th Court SW in south county.
When Dicks delivered the drugs, the Sheriff’s Office said, authorities moved in and arrested him.
Recovered on the scene were two baggies of crystal meth and 36 oxycodone pills that were packaged for sale.
The M.A.C.E. Unit also seized $3,886 found on the defendant’s person.
Dicks is being held at the county jail in lieu of $111,000 bail on felony charges of trafficking oxycodone and possession of a controlled substance, and a misdemeanor charge of carrying a concealed weapon.
