Virginia Greene Jirgl, 80, Vero Beach

Virginia Greene Jirgl, 80, of Swanton, Md., and Vero Beach, died Thursday, Sept. 2, 2010, at her home in Swanton.

Born June 2, 1930 in Philadelphia, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Walter Barr and Laura (Fritts) Barr. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Robert R. Greene; her second husband, Edward Jirgl; and one sister, Julia Fritts-Barr.

She was a member of the Indian River Habitat for Humanity, the Deer Haven Yacht Club, and a local bridge club. She was a volunteer at the Riverside Playhouse, Vero Beach.

Survivors include her two daughters, Cindy Kreisel (Carl), of Fairfax, Va., and Laura (Ricardo) Helton, of Pittsburgh, Pa.; one brother, Donald Barr, of Ponte Verda, Fla.; one step-daughter, Margie (Jack) Henson, of Oakland, Md.; one step-son, Jerry (Kris) Jirgl, of Alexandria, Va.; three adored grandchildren, and three precious great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at the Garrett County Memorial Gardens, Oakland, Md., on Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2010, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Chip Lee officiating.
