VERO BEACH — The Vero Beach Museum of Art invites area youth and their families to its upcoming Youth FunShop, “The Art of Spork” on Saturday, September 25 from 1 to 3 p.m. Attendees will take a tour of the fascinating Museum exhibition Metamorphosis: Abstract Works by Federico Uribe, and will then visit the Museum’s art studio classrooms to create a sculpture of their very own.
Miami Artist Federico Uribe began collecting everyday objects, such as flip flops, plastic forks, books, chopsticks, and colored pencils, at local flea markets and street fairs in 1996. The artist is now famous for using these ordinary objects to create abstract installations of pattern, color, and form.
FunShops are free to Museum youth members and only $2 per child for non-members. Guests may become a VBMA Youth Member for $5 “at-the-door” for an entire year of free FunShops. Parents, Grandparents, and chaperones are welcome to participate in both the exhibition tour and studio activity.
Vero Beach Museum of Art Youth FunShops are made possible through the generosity of Presenting Sponsor Disney’s Vero Beach Resort with additional support from Ironside Press and The Betty Reed Memorial Endowment for Youth Programs.
