Seacoast and FOOLS AS ONE to host Party in the Park

VERO BEACH —  Seacoast National Bank and FOOLS AS ONE (Fraternal Order of Leatherheads Society) will host the First Annual Party in the Park public safety and fun day on Saturday, October 16 from 2 to 5 p.m. at Seacoast’s SR 60 branch in Vero Beach, located at 6030 20th St. in front of Lowe’s. Admission is free and open to the public with free games and craft activities for children of all ages.

The parking lot will be transformed into a fun-filled festival featuring activities for all ages that include the beloved “Touch-A-Truck” display including FOOLS and Indian River County fire trucks, Indian River County Sheriff vehicles and Waterblasting Technologies’ Stripe Hog Waterblasting truck. The promenade will also feature displays from Florida Marine Patrol, American Red Cross, Stay-Low smoke house and fire hose booths and Smokey Bear. Law enforcement agencies will present child seat safety, Kid ID and K-9 unit demonstrations.

Event guests will enjoy a beanbag toss and an opportunity to add an artistic touch to the event’s art wall. Children may also participate in a variety of craft activities and take home their customized treasures including an adorned Frisbee, embellished sun visor, sand art masterpiece and a hand-decorated mini pumpkin. Refreshments and snacks will also be available for purchase.

Guests are encouraged to bring a nonperishable food item in lieu of an admission fee, which will be donated to Harvest Food & Outreach Center, as part of Seacoast’s sponsorship of WPTV’s annual Food for Families food drive.

All proceeds from purchased items will benefit FOOLS AS ONE, a 501c3 nonprofit organization comprised of currently employed, retired and volunteer firefighter members.  The FOOLS mission is to “enable, embrace and give us strength to assist our own and our local community in their time of need.”

FOOLS outreach programs include “After the Fire Program” that provides assistance to families that are victims of devastating fires, “Stop Drop and Roll Literacy” that rewards students for reading achievements with a ride to school in a FOOLS fire truck, and “It’s a FOOLS Christmas” that provides gifts to families in need during the holidays. Additionally, FOOLS members volunteer their time assisting other area nonprofits where and when there is a need.
