Dr. Michael Woo, 81, of Vero Beach, died Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2010, at home in Vero Beach.
Dr. Woo was born April 15, 1929, in Seng-Hoa, Tainan Provence, Republic of China, (Taiwan) and moved to Vero Beach eight years ago from there. He graduated from Medical School at the National University of Taiwan in Taipei and moved to Okinawa in 1965 where he worked as a surgeon for the US Air Force.
In 1971 Dr. Woo moved to Baltimore, Md., with his family where he had a Johns Hopkins Fellowship in Public Health. He later returned to Taiwan to continue his medical practice, retiring in 2002. He was a member of the First Covenant Church in Vero Beach.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Amy Woo, of Monrovia, Md.; sons, David Woo, of Virginia Beach, Va., Ben Woo, of Monrovia, Md., Sam Woo of Westminster, Md., and John Woo, of Frederick, Md.; daughter, Patrice Wadsworth, of Vero Beach; and 11 grandchildren.
Memorial services will be celebrated at the First Covenant Church of Vero Beach at a later date.
