Warm Nights – Cool Jazz in the Park

VERO BEACH — Guests are invited to enjoy the beautiful outdoor setting and atmosphere of the Vero Beach Museum of Art’s Alice and Jim Beckwith North Sculpture Park while listening to the sounds of sweet and soulful jazz, from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, October 28.

These outdoor concerts were so well-received last year that Jazz in the Park will be held three times this coming season, featuring a variety of regional jazz musicians. This season’s first concert will feature The James Archer Quartet.

The event is open to the public and costs only $10 per person. Complimentary hors d’oeuvres will be served. Wine and beer will be available for $2; and mixed drinks for $4.

Don’t miss the exhilarating experience of listening to great music amid a landscape of large-scale sculpture and beautiful flora.

Low beach attendance for January; no water rescues

VERO BEACH — While chilly temperatures caused a drop in beach attendance last month, lifeguards are happy to report that there were no water rescues that occurred in January. "It's a great thing," Vero Beach Lifeguard Association officials said in a statement. "We hope people are paying attention to lifeguards and condition signs before they go into the water." Fertilizer restrictions to go into effect next month

A reminder from the Indian River Neighborhood Association to residents of Indian River County, City of Vero Beach, Sebastian and Orchid. We are coming into our rainy season when more nutrients such as nitrogen and phosphorous are likely to be washed from our lawns, driveways and roads into the storm water system and, ultimately, into our local waterways such as the Indian River Lagoon. The fertilizer ordinances passed by our communities goes into effect June 1st. It prohibits the use of lawn fertilizer between June 1st and September 30th. ‘No swimming’ advisory lifted for beaches, officials say

VERO BEACH — Authorities lifted a 'no swimming' advisory for three local beaches Tuesday after test samples showed that bacteria returned to normal levels, health department and city officials said. The result means it was safe to return to the water Tuesday, Vero Beach city officials said. The advisory - which was in place for nearly a week - was issued Jan. 31 for South Beach, Humiston Beach and Sexton Plaza Beach after high levels of fecal-related bacteria were reported at the locations.
