Jacqueline S. MacIntyre, “BAMA,” 73, died Sept. 3, 2010.
Jackie was born in Cambridge, Mass. She spent half of her life in Marblehead, Mass., and the second half of her life in Vero Beach. Jackie was known as Bama from being the true Bahama Mama grandma. She loved life. She loved her children, her grandchildren, sunshine, dancing, swimming, exercising, and boating – particularly in the Bahamas.
Her happiest times were when she was surrounded by her family and friends. She loved the Lord and felt very blessed.
She never suffered. Her last days were spent at the VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach, filled with the love of her surrounding family and friends, compassion from the staff, as well as comfort from Christ Church’s clergy.
She graduated from University of Wisconsin in 1959. Bruce and Jackie were married in 1961. Survivors include her husband Bruce, married 49 years; her daughters, Laurie Cope (David), of Ocala, Amy Wilkinson, of Castle Rock; and her son, Boo (Heather) Macintyre, of Vero Beach; seven grandchildren; and her sister, Caroline S. (Frank) Wolfe, of Vienna, Va.
The service to celebrate of her life will be held at Christ Church on Tuesday, Sept. 7, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to VNA Hospice House or Christ Church of Vero Beach.
