INDIAN RIVER COUNTY – The Humane Society of Vero Beach and Indian River County is hosting a Pet Trust seminar on Tuesday, Sept. 14 from 10 to 11 a.m.
The event will be held at the shelter’s Adoption and Education Center, located at 6230 77th St., Vero Beach. “Companion animals are like family members,” Humane Society Director of Development Keith Hinton said. “Clarifying your wishes in writing is the best way to explain to others how your animals should be cared for if you can no longer care for them.”
The presentation’s featured speakers are Vero Beach attorney Jennifer Peshke of the law firm Stewart, Evans, Stewart & Emmons, P.A., and Hinton.
Peshke will present the legal aspects of pet trusts to assure that companion animals receive proper care after the disability or death of their owner, while Hinton will discuss the Humane Society’s Pet Guardian Program, a plan that allows families to provide the shelter with animal care directives in the event of a pet owner’s death.
The seminar is free and open to the public and refreshments will be served.
