William H. Smith, Jr., 64, died Aug. 30, 2010 at VNA Hospice House, Vero Beach.
He was born in Miami, Fla and lived in Vero Beach for seven years coming from Jupiter, Fla. He was a graduate of Miami Senior High School Class of 1964. Smith was a City of Miami Firefighter with 30 years of service to the department before his retirement in 2002 as Lieutenant.
He was a member of Calvary Chapel, Vero Beach.
Smith was an avid fisherman and wrote a fishing column for the Vero Beach 32963 Newspaper. He was a member of the Airmasters RC Club, Sebastian.
Survivors include his wife of 30 years Ann M. Smith, of Vero Beach; son, William H. Smith III, of Toccoa, Ga.; daughter, Maria “Missy” Smith, of Savannah, Ga.; sister, Audrey Dana Griffiths, of Winter Haven, Fla; stepmother Betty Smith, of Miami, Fla., and six grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Visiting Nurse Association & Hospice Foundation, 1110 35th Lane, Vero Beach, FL 32960 in memory of William H. Smith.
Visitation will be from 6 – 8 p.m. on Sept. 3, 2010 at Strunk Funeral Home Vero Beach.
A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. on Sept. 4, 2010 at Calvary Chapel, Vero Beach with Rev. Jim Gallagher, Pastor, Calvary Chapel officiating.
Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Ft. Pierce.
