VERO BEACH – Tickets for the Kiev Symphony Orchestra and Chorus concert at the Vero Beach High School Performing Arts Center will soon go on sale. Proceeds from the concert will go to the musical education of students in Indian River County.
The program will include orchestral music by Tchaikovsky, Rimsky-Korsakov and Mussorgsky, and choral music by Durufle, Rutter, Tanyeyev, and Bach.
The 95-member orchestra and chorus from the Ukraine will be housed by local families, who will collaborate in this unique cultural exchange. This event creates an excellent opportunity for the community to receive an educational international music experience.
The Ukraine has produced some of the most noted musicians in history. Pianist Vladimir Horowitz and violinist Isaac Stern were both from the Ukraine. Rackhmaninoff, Tchaikovsky and Stravinsky all spent time living in the Ukraine. Americans Leonard Bernstein and Benny Goodman were children of Ukrainian immigrants.
The concert will be held at the Performing Arts Center, 1707 16th St., on Oct. 5, at 7 p.m.
Tickets will go on sale Sept. 7 and will cost $30 for the lower level seats and $20 for the upper level.
For tickets, call (772) 564-5537. Visa and MasterCard are accepted and all seating is reserved.
